Student-friendly, Fun, Beautiful

 

What do you think of student life in the city?

The city of Newcastle is a University City which means that it is built for students. All the aspects of the city including travel, sightseeing, shopping, accommodation and the food. Having said that, there's plenty to do around the city irrespective of your preferences and Newcastle University plays a huge role in that.

 

How would you describe the people in Newcastle?

The people in Newcastle are really helpful and polite. It doesn't matter if you are new to the city or country or even speak the same language: the people of Newcastle will definitely make you feel welcome.

 

What is your favourite spot around campus?

My favorite spot on the campus is the Arches outside the Armstrong Building. The view is spectacular especially when it is covered with snow. I like sitting down on one of the benches and admiring the old English architecture with flower-laden walls while enjoying my lunch in between lectures.

 

What are the university services you took advantage of?

The Careers Services has really helped to shape my career aspirations and identify skills that are a requirement for today's job market. It also helped me prepare for interviews and assessment centres.

 

Which accommodation do you live in and what was your experience?

I live in Jesmond Accommodation which shares the reception with Winsdor Terrace. It's really cost-effective and has allowed me to meet some people who I now call my best friends. The accommodation services are prompt and very efficient.

 

What is the best thing about Newcastle University Business School?

The best thing about Newcastle University Business School is that they are really invested in the students' learning curve and dedicated to helping them achieve their career aspirations. I love its student-centric approach.

How has your time at the Business School prepared you for the job market?

It has helped me immensely, firstly to identify the skills which are key to the job market and then allocating time and resources to develop those skills.

 

Was there anything about Newcastle or the University that surprised you?

One thing that really surprised me was the number of opportunities for students to get employment on campus.

What do you think of student life in the city?

I enjoy my studies at Newcastle, my teachers are all very responsible and thoughtful in their responses to my queries, and I have gained a lot from these classes. Life at the Business School has proven to be more adaptive than I had anticipated. After finishing my dissertation, what could be better than going out for a lovely supper with friends?

 

How would you describe the people in Newcastle?

Newcastle residents are straightforward and friendly. When I can't find an address on Google Maps, folks frequently stop and offer directions. The people in Newcastle are kind and took fantastic care of me when I first came. The more time I spend here, the more I like the city and the people.

 

What is your favourite spot around campus?

My favourite feature of the Business School is the ground floor, which had a communal area with tables and seats as well as a Starbucks. My friends and I would occasionally meet there to discuss essay topics and class material, so it is full of fond memories. I often grab a cup of coffee to wake me up before class, making me feel energised for the rest of the day.

 

What are the university services you took advantage of?

I like the Careers Service since I can bring my CV draft for editing, ask for guidance regarding my future career, and arrange both online and offline appointments. I believe this service is very valuable for students.

Do you have advice for students thinking about studying at Newcastle University Business School?

You will not be disappointed when you study and live here. You will gain a lot of knowledge and make a lot of wonderful friends. Don't forget to bring several sweaters and hats; it's very windy here!

 

Was there anything about Newcastle or the University that surprised you?

I still remember the Business School's career networking meeting at the Frederick Douglas Centre; it was my first time attending such a meeting in the UK and I was surprised. The entire venue was filled with the sound of students and company representatives conversing for over two hours, and I met many students I had never met before. For me, the conference was a life-changing experience, and I realised that in the future job market, I will need to build a vast network of relationships and take the initiative to understand and reach out to individuals.

What do you think of student life in the city?

Student life is awesome. There are many fun activities to do aside from studying, including cool relaxation spots and places to explore.

 

What is your favourite spot around campus?

The 5th floor Study Hub at the Business School is one of my favourite places to study. The environment is serene and gives room for networking and meeting other students.

The business school have a wide variety of resources to help you achieve your career goals. You need to maximize these resources in order to get the best out of it.

 

How has your time at the Business School prepared you for the job market?

The seminars, conferences and Careers Services of the business school has helped me develop my skills and gain new skill that are valuable in the job market.

Where is your favourite place to visit in Newcastle?

What do you think of student life in the city?

I have found the student life in Newcastle very nice. The locals have been really nice to me and I have made good friends. It's a totally different vibe from London where I studied before. It's more calmer in Newcastle.

 

What is your favourite spot around campus?

My favourite spot has to be the Philip Robinson Library and the shawarma place near the Business School. I love the shawarma we get there and I come from a Middle Eastern country so it's always nice to have food from that region.

How would you describe the city?

Friendly and beautiful

 

What do you think of student life in the city?

It is a wonderful experience to live, the people are friendly. You could stop and talk to anyone about anything!

 

What is your favourite spot around campus?

I love the study rooms in the business building. They are convenient for self-studying and getting ready for classes. 

 

What are the university services you took advantage of?

I have had several talks with staff in the Careers Service who have great advice. There are also events to help with networking and meet representatives from companies.

 

Which accommodation do you live in and what was your experience?

I am now living in Wellington Plaza and it is a good placeto live. It is close to the Frederick Douglass Centre and Business School. The price of it is lower than other accommodation around the Business School. 

 

What is the best thing about Newcastle University Business School?

The lecturers are brilliant.

You should be yourself wherever you go, study hard and be diligent in your journey.

What is your favourite spot around campus?

There's a park near my accomodation that I often pass on my way to University, I look up at the sky and enjoy the silence that nature brings me. 

 

What are the university services you took advantage of?

The University provides In-sessional English for students who's first language isn't English. We have interactive lectures, writing tutorials and presentation skills sessions.

 

Which accommodation do you live in and what was your experience?

I live in Park View University accomodation. It's safe and resonably priced. I met nice flatmates where if someone needed anything, the others would always offer help. 

 

What is the best thing about Newcastle University Business School?
