Attendance and Formative Assessment Policy
Every effort should be made to fully attend and engage with compulsory sessions
If you become unwell during PASS, experience unexpected circumstances, or have a condition that may affect your ability to attend sessions or submit your formative assessment, we will work with you to support you. Our aim is to help you to still complete the Summer School.
We want everyone to pass!
What to do if you need to miss something
- submit an absence request form via the PASS Hub Canvas Community once you have access from 22 June.
- provide evidence (this can be written eg a doctor's note, or discussed with a PARTNERS team member)
- we can't approve absences without evidence or speaking to the PARTNERS team in advance
- the PARTNERS team will review your request and approve or deny your absence
- there are different tiers of absence
Absence tiers
Tier 1 – not approved
The reason or evidence provided is not sufficient, and adjustments can't be made for you to complete the programme.
Tier 2 – approved (minor impact)
Speak to your Academic Strand Leader on catching up and catch up on any missed content in your own time.
Tier 3 – approved (significant impact)
- you will be asked to submit a Personal Extenuating Circumstances (PEC) form
- your case will be reviewed by the PARTNERS PEC committee
- you may be asked to complete an alternative assessment
Issues affecting your formative assessment submission?
- ask for help before the deadline, don't leave it until the deadline has passed
- inform your academic strand leader in the first instance - they may be able to guide you, signpost to IT/Canvas advice, or provide an extension
- if your academic strand leader isn't able to provide an adjustment or extension, inform the PARTNERS team as soon as possible.
- you'll be required to submit a PEC form to approve a late submission
- late requests made after the formative assessment deadline may not be accepted
- all PEC form submissions must be approved before you can successfully complete the programme
