Wellbeing and disability support

If you have a disability, health-condition or might need extra support, we can put arrangements in place to make the Summer School more accessible for you.

This might include but is not limited to:

  • adjustments to teaching
  • assessments or activities
  • practical support for your time on campus or using our IT services
  • accommodation adjustments
  • wellbeing support

The PARTNERS team is happy to be able to give you early access to the University's health and wellbeing services, including appointments with a counsellor, disability advisor and more.

All support is confidential, optional and designed to ensure you get the most out of the week.

PASS personal tutor

You will be allocated a PARTNERS team member as your personal tutor for the duration of PASS.

Look out for an email from them in induction week with details of how to contact them.

Staying safe on campus

We're supported by SafeZone, a free app available to students. If you need help while you're on campus and undergraduate student accommodation, it'll connect you directly to our security team.

When you raise an alarm, the app will alert our on-campus security team of your situation and location. The team can co-ordinate the help you need quickly to ensure your safety.

SafeZone only shares your location when you ask for help or check in on campus. Its privacy feature means it doesn’t track you at other times.

University Security Team

Our University Security team is available 24/7 on campus. This includes support if you're worried about your own physical or mental health or a fellow student's.

Call security on 0191 208 6817

24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Drop in wellbeing appointments

Finding the summer school harder than you thought?

Would you benefit from wellbeing advice and guidance in advance of starting at Newcastle in September?

You can drop-in for a wellbeing appointment - no need to book in advance. Wellbeing drop-ins are available between 12:00 - 14:00:

  • Monday 29 June
  • Tuesday 30 June
  • Thursday 2 July
  • Friday 3 July

To drop in, come and speak to a PARTNERS team member or your personal tutor during your on campus days at PASS HQ in The Boiler House.

Absence and assessment concerns

If you become unwell during PASS, experience unexpected circumstances, or have a condition that may affect your ability to attend sessions or submit your formative assessment, we will work with you to support you. Our aim is to help you to still complete the Summer School.

We want everyone to pass!
