Online Support

Using Canvas and IT services.

Your online days of PASS

On 22 June, you will receive your own personal university log in details, including a username, password and email address.

You'll only be given login details and access to Canvas if you've completed the Code of Conduct.

Part of the PARTNERS Academic Summer School will take place online via a platform called Canvas. It's important to log in to familiarise yourself with the PASS courses and modules in advance so you're ready to use them on your first day.

Online content is compulsory to attend and may include:

  • live webinars
  • online group discussions
  • recorded lectures
  • self-guided study

Step-by-step IT access set-up

1. Your email address

It is made up of your username with @newcastle.ac.uk after it, for example:

  • user name: C1234567
  • email address: C1234567@newcastle.ac.uk
2. Your password

When logging in for the first time, you must add your date of birth (in the format DDMMYYYY) to the password details sent to you by email:

For example:

  • if the password you received by email is FractionSortFifth
  • your Date of Birth is 1 May 2002
  • Your password is: FractionSortFifth01052002

Once you have successfully logged in the first time, you can reset your password to something more memorable, see our guidance for choosing a good password.

When resetting your password, your new password needs to be a minimum of 16 characters in length.

3. Your university email

All PARTNERS students have a Newcastle University email account hosted by Microsoft's Office365 service.

Log in to your university email account at Office 365 (using your university email address). Subject strand leaders will only contact you via your university email address or Canvas.

The first time you log in to your university email, you will be asked to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

You can find step-by-step instructions in our Multi-Factor Authentication Guidance.

Your university email address is: username@newcastle.ac.uk and you can start using this immediately.

4. Using Wi-Fi and PCs on campus

To log onto student PCs on campus, you will be asked for your username, (for example C1234567) only and not your full email address.

To access Wi-Fi on campus, please search for and connect to Eduroam.

This has a slightly different way to log on, it is username@ncl.ac.uk and your password.
