Outreach

Discover our passion for inspiring the next generation of modern language students at Newcastle University.

Why should students learn a language?

In today’s globalised world, the ability to communicate in more than one language is a highly sought-after skill. Employers increasingly value graduates who bring:

  • linguistic ability
  • intercultural awareness
  • an understanding of global perspectives

Language students learn to:

  • navigate cultural nuances
  • build relationships across borders
  • work effectively in diverse environments

These skills are vital to employers operating within our increasingly interconnected economy.

Being able to speak a foreign language and understand different cultural contexts is a major advantage in business. This is especially true with an increasing number of businesses now operating internationally.

Outreach events: working with you to inspire

We are passionate about inspiring the next generation of language learners. Our school regularly hosts outreach events. These events are aimed at encouraging pupils to consider studying a language at GCSE, A-level and beyond.

We work closely with local schools and community groups to:

  • deliver interactive language and culture workshops
  • support language learning through talks and taster sessions
  • welcome school visits to our campus

Key skill development:
