Meet Nikita

Modern Languages BA (Mandarin, Chinese and German), Class of 2019

Introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you've done since graduating

Since university, I've been working in Consumer Goods. I began my career in sales before transitioning into Analytics. I'm now working as an Analyst for the Western Europe team at the LEGO Group.

Why did you choose to study at Newcastle University?

I fell in love with the city as soon as I went to the open day! I loved how friendly everyone was; it was just a lovely place to be.

Aside from that, the modules looked really interesting and I loved the variety of languages on offer. I even took the opportunity to pick up Chinese!

How do you think your course prepared you for your chosen career?

My cross-cultural communication and language skills helped set me apart when applying for the role at the LEGO Group. My job involves occasional travel, including visits to the German office, where my language skills come in handy!

What did you enjoy most about your time at Newcastle University?

My year abroad was definitely the highlight! I have such fond memories of my time in China and experiences that I will carry with me for a lifetime.

I'm also really proud of how much I learned that year – my language skills really developed.

Describe your time at Newcastle University in three words

Friendship, adventure, memories.
