Bursaries

We are pleased to announce the offer of two new bursaries - the Bishopwearmouth Student Bursary and the Hilary Taylor Scholarship.

Bishopwearmouth Bursary - MSc Urban Planning

The Conservation Team at Sunderland City Council would like to offer a course fees bursary of £2,500 combined with a work experience opportunity to one student commencing in September 2021.

The selected student will be required to actively attend the MSC Urban Planning course following the conservation pathway, demonstrating a clear interest in a future heritage related career. The selected student will also be required to attend a work experience placement equivalent to one day per week during term time, dates and times to be agreed with the Principal Conservation Officer at Sunderland City Council. A commitment to both the course and the work experience placement will be expected.

Eligibility

To be considered for this bursary you must:

  • Have applied for the MSc Urban Planning course, and plan to choose the Conservation pathway
  • Hold the equivalent of a first class or upper second class degree at undergraduate level in any discipline; (or be expecting to achieve this in 2021)
  • Demonstrate an interest in town planning as a career
  • This bursary is open to Home/EU/International students

Hilary Taylor Scholarship - Master of Architecture

We are able to offer two scholarships of £2,500, one for each stage of the Master of Architecture (5843F) programme. The Hilary Taylor Scholarship is for individuals who legally identify as female and are in need of financial assistance. Hilary believed no one should have to give up on their dreams of university study because of the financial cost. Hilary spent seven years learning her craft at Newcastle and was fiercely passionate about helping young females into the industry.
