How might our pee transform our homes into energy-generating structures? Harnessing the power of human waste, the ALICE project ‘living bricks’ use microbial fuel cell technology to provide an alternative to fossil fuels. The bricks power a bio-digital artwork which captures their data to feed an animation based on bacterial foraging algorithms.

The display was created by Julie Freeman with Professor Rachel Armstrong and Ioannis Ieropoulos, as part of the Digital Design Weekend the display was on show at the V&A museum 25 - 26 September 2021.
