Prospect Us

Prospect Us explores the social, emotional and political impact of commodification of land, rapid urban development and studentification in Newcastle.

For the exhibition Dr Julia Heslop produced a series of screen prints taken from rubbings of trees felled locally to make way for development. The rubbings are part of a series looking at what is lost through the capture of economic value from land which fails to acknowledge the meaning particular trees hold for local people, and the role they play in local ecosystems.

The exhibition is open until 25 November, more information on the exhibition is here: https://www.saw-newcastle.org/prospect-us/
