Dr Mariachiara Barzotto

Background

Mariachiara Barzotto is a lecturer in International Management at Newcastle University Business School. Before joining Newcastle University, Mariachiara worked as a lecturer at Essex Business School. She held a Post-Doctoral Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Research Fellowship at Birmingham Business School - University of Birmingham. She obtained her doctoral degree in Business at the Advanced School of Economics - Ca’ Foscari University Venice (Italy) and was visiting Ph.D. student as well as research collaborator at Cass Business School - City University London.

 

Her work focuses on globalisation, skills, labour markets, foreign direct investments (FDIs), technological changes, and regional development.

 

Mariachiara’s work has been published in leading academic journals (such as at Journal of Economic Geography and International Journal of Finance and Economics) and policy reports.

Research projects

I am interested in collaborating on research projects that investigate:

- the consequences of technological changes and globalisation on skill composition and skill development needs.

- public policy for the industrial development in lagging regions (areas lacking in skills, knowledge, technologies and network capabilities).
