Professor David Lain Awarded Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences

Professor David Lain of Newcastle University Business School has been awarded Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, one of the UK’s leading honours for social scientists.

The Fellowship recognises excellence and impact in social science, with Fellows elected through an independent peer-review process in recognition of their substantial contributions to the field and to public benefit.

Professor Lain isProfessor of Work and Ageing and Subject Group Head for Leadership, Work and Organisation at Newcastle University Business School.

He is one of three Newcastle University academics who have been announced this year, highlighting the breadth of social science expertise across the University.

Reflecting on the recognition, Professor Lain said:

"It is a real honour to become a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. I’m looking forward to the opportunities it will bring to help promote social science research on ageing and employment, extended working lives, and health at work."
