Business in Action module success

Business in Action is a two-week experiential learning module on the MBA programme. It is student-centred and encourages students to put theory into action with first-hand experience of life as a business consultant across several sectors, all within a supportive and collaborative environment. The colleagues involved in designing and delivering the module ensure this immersive module bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world practice.

The winning team members were:

Dr Lucy Hatt, MBA Degree Programme Director, said: “I’m delighted that the Business in Action Module on the Newcastle University MBA has been recognised nationally with the British Academy of Management Education Practice Award (Experienced Category) 2025. Judged by a panel of Deans, this honour affirms our symbiotic partnership model; student-centred, academically rigorous and anchored in live consultancy with our learning partners.

Lucy added: “It recognises the exceptional teamwork across our MBA community and the tangible impact our students deliver for organisations. It highlights Newcastle University Business School’s commitment to innovative, experiential learning that equips our students with the skills and confidence to make a positive impact in real-world business contexts.”

The team are looking forward to continuing the success of the Business in Action module as they finalise plans and secure businesses for this year’s Newcastle University MBA cohort.
