Global Recognition for Case Writing Excellence

Newcastle University Business School is proud to announce it has retained its top 50 ranking in The Case Centre Impact Index 2025, a globally recognised benchmark that measures the reach and influence of case writing worldwide.

30 October 2025

The Case Centre Impact Index, now in its third year, celebrates institutions whose case study materials are making a significant impact across international business and management education. The ranking is based on data relating to the distribution and use of cases by educators and institutions around the world.

The School ranks 40th in this year’s list.

The Impact Index is compiled using The Case Centre's usage data from the previous academic year. To reflect the global reach and impact of an organisation's case writing, the index metrics include how many of their cases have been adopted, by how many organisations, in how many countries, and how many individual students have been taught with the cases.

Since the beginning of 2024, Newcastle University Business School has submitted nine new cases to The Case Centre for distribution, bringing its total collection to more than 80 high-quality cases. Many of these come with comprehensive teaching support, including instructor guides, videos, and specialist software tools – making them valuable resources worldwide.

Newcastle's growing influence in global business education

Two of the cases have achieved prize-winning recognition, underlining the academic rigour and real-world relevance of the School’s research.

Stewart Robinson, Dean of Newcastle University Business School, said: “Case teaching enables students to engage with the complexities of the real-world and provides them with an invaluable opportunity to develop their skills in teamwork, problem solving and decision-making. I am delighted to see Newcastle University Business School not only using cases in our teaching but being recognised as a leader in writing cases that are having an impact across the world. It is another sign of our global leadership in business and management education.”

Dr Saurabh Bhattacharya, Reader in Digital Marketing at Newcastle University, who had his case recognised reflected: "It is a pleasure to contribute, through my co-authored business case studies, to the success of Newcastle University Business School in the Case Centre Impact Index 2025 ranking. This standing in the Case Centre Impact Index 2025 is a testament to School’s focus on transforming current learners into future leaders. Business case studies support our graduates and graduates from other world-leading universities who adopt the business cases in their curriculum to examine the issues critical stakeholders – including non-profits to profit-making – experience and how they tackle real-world problems through innovative solutions, making current graduates future-ready.”
