Background
I spent 10 years in various accounting roles covering management and financial accounting and eventually as Financial Controller of a Financial Services company. I then joined BPP as a tutor in the Accountancy and Tax faculty in Bristol, leaving 3 years later to join Hyperion Training, a financial services training company based in the City of London, which was later bought by BPP. I became MD of BPP's Financial Services Division after the dot com bubble and crash and then moved to become CEO of the entire UK exam business encompassing accountancy, tax, financial services, HR and actuarial training. After leaving BPP in 2011, I spent two years as an independent consultant supporting organisations such as ACCA and Pearson HE.
Academic Career
I joined University of Liverpool at their London campus in 2013 as a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Programme Director for their MSc Finance and Investment Management. Having successfully built a strong reputation and good student numbers, I moved on to join Newcastle University Business School in January 2018.

I am currently Treasurer. trustee and company director of Young Women's Outreach Project, a charity based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear that works with young women and young mothers and supports them with their education, work and life prospects.

Teaching
I am currently module leader on two compulsory modules fot the BSc Accounting and Finance degree programme as follows:
- ACC3006 International Financial Management and ACC3020 The Financial Manager
- ACC1012 Professional Skills for Accounting and Finance
I am also currently module leader on a first year module for the Executive MBA degree programme as follows:
- NBS8975 Financial Analysis, Decision and Markets
I teach on ACC3001 Financial Accounting, the compulsory stage 3 module for students on our N400/N401 BSc Accounting and Finance.
My teaching experience encompasses financial reporting and analysis, corporate finance, equities and bonds, portfolio management, financial regulation and ethics. I have taught towards professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CFA, AAT and threshold competency programmes for regulated persons within financial services. I have also taught on graduate development programmes for many of the major banks, investment banks and fund managers.
