Sawlat received her Ph.D. degree from Cardiff University, UK. She obtained a Diploma in Social Science Research Methods (SSRM) from Cardiff University, UK. Sawlat did her MBA (major in Finance) and undergraduate degree (BBA) from the pioneer business school in Bangladesh the IBA, University of Dhaka, where she later joined and worked as a lecturer/ Assistant Professor for almost five years. Sawlat's teaching career in the UK started with Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. She joined Newcastle University Business School, Newcastle University in 2016 and is currently working as a lecturer in International Business and Management.
Sawlat also has work experience as an HR professional at UNICEF and UN-WFP Bangladesh. She also worked as a part-time researcher at Bangladeshi NGOs dealing with issues such as child labor, adolescent girls' empowerment, etc. In the UK, she was actively involved with a charitable organization BAWSO as a trustee board member (2015-2017).
Sawlat is an associate editor of the Journal of SN Social Sciences since 2022. She has published in leading journals like Thunderbird Internal Business Review and book chapters with publishers such as Palgrave and Edward Elger. Her teaching and research expertise lies in the field of Global HRM & Employment Relations, International Business Environment, and CSR & Corporate Governance.
