About the network

The Refugee and Migration Research Network (RAMnet) brings together researchers interested in migration, displacement and mobility, and their relationship with work, organisations, politics and society.

Our interdisciplinary research examines the experiences of refugees, migrants and other mobile communities. We seek to challenge dominant narratives around migration and displacement by exploring people's everyday experiences, values and perspectives.

RAMnet connects researchers with practitioners, policymakers, employers, civil society organisations, and migrant and refugee communities in the UK and internationally.

What we do

Our research focuses on three interconnected areas:

Displacement and mobility

We explore different forms of human movement, including forced migration and asylum, labour mobility, environmental displacement and climate-related migration.

Organisations and working lives

We investigate the working and organisational experiences of people who have migrated, including workers, entrepreneurs, professionals, academics and business owners.

Policy, governance and institutions

We examine how migration regimes, labour-market policies and organisational responses shape the experiences of displaced and mobile individuals.

Through our research, teaching and public engagement, we aim to develop new understanding of migration and displacement and contribute to policy and practice.
