What is an MSci?
An MSci (Master in Science) is an integrated undergraduate and postgraduate degree. It combines three years of undergraduate study with a fourth year of advanced learning. This is designed to develope deeper expertise and prepare you for professional or research careers.
You'll study for four years in total. You will progress seamlessly from undergraduate to postgraduate level within a single degree structure.
Why choose an MSci?
Affordable postgraduate study
You'll pay undergraduate tuition fees for all four years. This makes it an accessible way to gain a master's-level qualification.
Career advantage
An MSci is a higher-level qualification than a BSc. This helps you stand out in a competitive job market.
It also gives you faster entry to the job market. You'll graduate earlier than many standalone master's students – in June, rather than in December.
Seamless progression
There's no separate application for the fourth year.
Eligible students can transfer internally, meaning you can continue with the same academic and support structures.
Enhanced learning
The fourth year includes advanced modules and an independent research or project component. This helps you build specialist knowledge and professional skills valued by employers.
