About IESAM

We’re addressing the urgent PEMD skills shortage by providing training and guidance in the North East of England.

Who we are

The Newcastle University Institute of Electrification and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (IESAM) was created to address the urgent skills shortage in the North East of England by offering training.

The region is set to become a UK leader in electrification and advanced digital manufacturing. This is due to planned investments by successful businesses specialising in electrification.

The Electric Revolution aims to bring economic growth, new industries, and rewarding jobs to the North East, just as the Industrial Revolution did.

What is the Electric Revolution?

The Electric Revolution is the shift towards using electric power and technology across various industries, including transport, manufacturing, and energy. This could mean developing electric vehicles, renewable energy sources, smart grids, and other technologies.

The aim is to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency.
