Staff Profile

Laura Thomson

Deputy Director of Faculty Operations

Deputy Director of Faculty Operations

I have been employed by Newcastle University since 1997 in a number of roles ranging from technical laboratory work, financial administration, student lifecycle management and senior leadership and management positions.

The aspects of my current role that I enjoy most are leadership, mentoring and developing new industrial and international partnerships. I feel proud to work for a world-leading University with research and teaching activities that make a difference to people's lives locally, nationally and internationally.

Outside of work I volunteer as a co-opted Governor for a local Primary School with a view to encouraging more children to be interested in Higher Education, and Science and Engineering in particular.
