CI Teacher Came Second in 3rd Chinese Teaching Championship for English speaking Countries in Europe
On March 9th, the final of the Third Chinese Teaching Championship for English-speaking Countries in Europe was held in London. Wanxiu Chen, one of our CI teachers, came second in the adult student group’s competition.
This championship was organized by the Organizing Committee of the Chinese Teaching Championship for English-Speaking Countries in Europe, the Chinese Proficiency Test UK Committee, and the Association of Chinese Teachers in the UK.
The competition kicked off in October 2023. Following the online preliminary rounds, regional competitions were held separately in five areas, including Scotland and Wales, central and northern England, London and southern England, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. In the central and northern England regional competition, Na Yao and Xiaolu Tan from the Confucius Institute at Newcastle University won the Creative Teaching Award for the primary and secondary student group and the adult students group, respectively. Meanwhile, Wanxiu Chen came second in the adult students group, qualifying for the final.
Of the 22 final competitors who were selected from the winners in 5 different regional championships, 7 were awarded. Among them, 3 are from the adult student group and 4 from the primary and secondary students group.
Wanxiu Chen's outstanding performance in this final, along with the exceptional performance of the two CI teachers Na Yao and Xiaolu Tan, in the central and northern England regional competitions, not only exemplify the comprehensive abilities and professionalism of CI’s teachers but also underscore the accomplishments of teamwork and teachers training program.
