Exploring Chinese Culture: Chinese New Year Workshops at Royal Grammar School

The Confucius Institute at Newcastle University hosted Chinese New Year workshops at the Royal Grammar School from February 12th to 14th, engaging nearly a thousand students.

Led by teachers Ms. Xuemei Chen, Ms. Yingying Wei, and Ms. Na Yao, activities included calligraphy sessions and a lecture, offering insights into Chinese New Year traditions and calligraphy art. Students immersed themselves in learning about the Chinese New Year, Chinese zodiac, and customs like couplet pasting and dragon dances.

Through these interactive sessions, students gained a deeper appreciation for the richness of Chinese traditions, fostering a spirit of cultural appreciation and understanding.

This collaboration aimed to broaden cultural horizons and enhance cross-cultural communication. Positive feedback reflects students' interest in further cultural experiences, highlighting the CI's dedication to promoting Chinese culture and fostering cultural exchange.
