New partnership with Keelman's Way School
The Confucius Institute (CI) at Newcastle University has begun a new partnership with Keelman's Way School, a special education facility in the UK. Keelman’s Way School provides a supportive and educational environment for children aged 2 to 19 with significant learning challenges, including those with complex needs and ASD. Starting this semester, they are introducing Chinese courses designed for students with special needs. This collaboration aims to broaden their learning experiences and immerse them in a different culture.
Keelman's Way students are learning Chinese with help from teacher Xiaolu Tan and Yingying Wei, enjoying songs and games. Moreover, they organized a fantastic paper-cutting workshop. The workshop was a great success, with the students eagerly participating and showing amazing creativity and potential. In this course, students became close to the teachers from the CI, which shows how dedicated and friendly the teachers are. One student even gave Teacher Yingying a personal painting as a way of saying thank you.
After connecting with the CI, the two institutions solidified their partnership. Keelman's Way School even showcased this collaboration on their official Facebook page. This collaboration is significant not only for the students but also for the CI. It represents their commitment to fostering cultural exchange and inclusivity within the global community.
