Meet Qingyang

MA Translating & Interpreting, Class of 2023

Introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you've done since graduating

I am currently doing a MSc at the University of Oxford. After this, I will continue to pursue a PhD at either UCL or the University of Cambridge, researching adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My aim is to investigate language profiles and age-related cognitive abilities.

Why did you choose to study at Newcastle University?

The university stood out to me because of its high ranking and the stellar reputation of its T&I programme.

How do you think your course prepared you for your chosen career?

It inspired my interest in languages and language-related behaviours, including cognitive abilities. My chosen course also provided a strong network and helpful interpersonal resources.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Newcastle University?

I loved the flexible module schedules and the wide-choice of optional modules. It was also great to have such a strong connection with my lecturers, so I could always receive useful feedback.

Describe your time at Newcastle in three words

Stimulating, rewarding, unforgettable.
