Senior Lecturer, School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences

Carys Watts is a Senior Lecturer in Enterprise in the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (SBNSS). Her specialism is Enterprise Education in biosciences, with academic qualifications in Management, Microbial genetics and Microbiology. She holds Senior Fellowship of the HEA and is a NU Policy Academy Fellow, with experience contributing to government roundtable consultations and Westminster HE Forums. She represents the University at the Heads of University Biosciences (HUBS) Special Interest Group of the Royal Society for Biology.

Carys is Director of Engagement in SBNSS, responsible for student mobility and overseeing outreach, recruitment, alumni and industrial engagement. She actively promotes global activities including language and cultural awareness, and cross-campus collaboration with the NUMed Malaysia campus, and including enterprise and UN SDGs concepts. Carys co-wrote the school’s successful Athena SWAN application. Her enterprise education research collaborations span the three Faculties and externally to the university and she holds IEEP Fellow status (International Entrepreneurship Educators programme). She holds an External Examiner position and School Governor role (SEN and curriculum), and is a parent.
