Due to the ongoing IT issues at Newcastle University, our Sports Services systems are down.

We continue to remain open, consistent with our opening times. However, note that we are introducing some temporary booking procedures as detailed below:

  • Gym Sessions and fitness class bookings are compulsory prior to arrival
  • Bookings can be made up to and including 25 September, with a 24-hour booking notice period
  • Bookings should be made by phone (0191 208 7225), our lines are open between 12.00 and 19.00
  • A membership is not required to book an activity up to 25 September. Further information on our membership offer will be circulated soon
  • 1-hour gym sessions are available at the following times: 12:15, 13:30, 14:45, 16:00, 17:15
  • Our exercise class timetable can be found at www.ncl.ac.uk/sport/sport-and-fitness/classes 

Unfortunately, no casual Sports Hall or Squash activity bookings are currently available.

Please ensure you bring your smartcard when attending and complete the required information on our sign in sheets at each of the relevant reception points (Main reception and/or Gym). Please also familiarise yourself with some of the additional measures we are introducing to keep you safe.

We offer the chance to compete up to British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), national and international level.

From Monday 28 September, Newcastle University Sport and NUSU will be running a number of taster opportunities. You'll be able to take part in some of our most popular sports for 3 weeks.
