Your questions answered

How much does University accommodation cost?

Cost is an important consideration when choosing your accommodation. How much your accommodation will cost at Newcastle University depends on several things, such as the type of room you choose and whether you want to be catered or self-catered. You can find information regarding the different prices of our accommodation on the  page.

We review our accommodation rental costs annually. We adjust them taking into account trends in students’ preferences and financial circumstances. A ladder of rents ensures we have a greater level of choice available at a range of price points, improving affordability for our students.

How do I apply for accommodation?

Applying for accommodation at Newcastle University is really easy. First, use our accommodation filter to review all of your options, then head to our  page to start the application process.

You'll register on the application portal to begin your application. From there, you’ll be asked to provide your top three accommodation choices, and additional preferences. It's important to note that your choices aren't guaranteed, but we'll do our best to offer you a room which meets your preferences.

Our What Happens Next page explains what happens after you submit your application.

When can I move into the accommodation?

You'll move into your new home at Newcastle University in September. To ensure a quick and easy arrival process, we ask that you book an arrival slot. This will be a set day and time to arrive at your residence and move all your belongings in. You'll be invited to sign up for an arrival slot via email in August.
