Our Centre for Professional and Executive Development focuses on continuing professional development (CPD). Our courses combine world-leading research and specialist expertise, so you can be sure that your organisation will gain market-leading skills.
We have courses anyone can sign-up to, but we also design courses depending on your business needs. The courses can be either face-to-face on-campus, or online, so geography is not a problem. Many of our courses award academic credits or even accreditation from professional bodies.
The techniques being employed here are at the forefront of their field.
We have developed courses for public and private organisations from a variety of industries. Some of our case studies include:
Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research
Newcastle University developed a new qualification in Clinical Research for the Department of Health, to equip students with all the skills identified by their strategy.
Renewable Energy - Oyster® Prototype
Edinburgh-based Aquamarine Power have designed and built Oyster®, a prototype hydro-electric wave power converter.
Staff from the Geomatics group within the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at Newcastle University worked alongside Ordnance Survey staff to develop a three day course that would increase staff understanding of GNSS.
A lack of skills in geosciences has been recognised as a national problem. The School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences responded to this gap, introducing a new flexible learning MSc programme in Applied Hydrogeology and Water Management.
