Young citymakers: Prefigurative placemaking with young people in the becoming-digital city

Sean’s research interests centre on exploring possible ways that digital technology can support young people’s participation in citymaking and imagining alternative urban futures. To do this, Sean is working with groups of young people in schools and youth councils, as well as interviewing planners, youth workers, teachers and technology designers. By doing this, he is hoping to understand better the opportunities and barriers that exist for young people to shape the city on their terms. He is also hoping to explore the value of technologies for young people as potential tools for communication, sensemaking and activism around citymaking.
