Dr David Ririmasse joined Newcastle Business School as a Lecturer in Accounting in September 2024. Prior to this appointment, Dr Ririmasse served as a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Hertfordshire, a Teaching Fellow in Accounting and Finance at SOAS University of London, and a Teaching Associate in Accounting and Finance at Queen Mary University of London. He holds a BSc in Accounting from Bakrie University in Indonesia, an MSc in Petroleum Energy Economics and Finance from the University of Aberdeen, and a PhD in Business and Management from Queen Mary University of London, all of which were fully funded. Dr Ririmasse is also certified as an Associate Fellow of the UK Professional Standards Framework (AFHEA). Additionally, he is a financial expert in the energy industry and currently serves as the Financial Controller at Majlis Energy Ltd., a UK green startup focused on the circular economy. Previously, he was a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young and a Financial Analyst at ExxonMobil.
Dr Ririmasse's research focuses on climate change and energy sectors and its impacts across developed and emerging markets. His research accomplishments have been recognized with awards such as the 2nd Best Paper Award at the BAFA South East Area Group in 2021 and the Best Paper Award at the 24th Annual Conference on Finance and Accounting in 2023 in Prague. These achievements have led to the submission of his PhD research manuscripts to top academic journals, including Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, International Journal of Finance & Economics and Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance.

- Accounting and Accountability: financial analysts, financial reporting quality, non-financial disclosure
- Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG): sustainable finance and economics, corporate social responsibility
- Energy finance and economics: energy and environmental finance and economics, energy transition and low carbon-economy

Dr Ririmasse has contributed to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, covering topics such as Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, Corporate Financial Management, Research Methods, Financial Models for Investment Banking, and Risk Management. His teaching is characterised by a focus on practical applications, critical thinking, and bridging theoretical concepts with real-world challenges.
