Haiyan earned her Ph.D degree in Logistics and Operation Management from Cardiff University Business School. Acknowledged as to the scientific rigor of her phd performance, she received the James Cooper Cup award from CILT in 2018. Haiyan is now a lecturer /Assistant Professor in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and an AdHoc Research Consultant for NITI, Government of India.
Haiyan's research interests particularly in sustainable supply chain management and sustainability related issues in the food sectors. Sustainability practice is integrated in supply chain management activities, and more broadly, influenced by both macro and micro factors, including institutional and political enforcement as well as company strategy and network governance. Managing the food system is fairly complicated, and that drives a further area of her work in investigating sustainable food chains in emerging economics.
Haiyan is an active researcher and she publishes in world-leading journals, including Supply Chain Management: an International Journal, Production Planning and Control, International Journal of Production Research and more the like. She also delivers professional service and revises papers for journals, such as Journal of Cleaner Production, Energy Policy, and Supply Chain Management: An International Journal.
Before joining Newcastle University Business School, Haiyan was employed as a lecturer in International Supply Chain Management in Plymouth Business School and an 'Excellent Young Scholar' in Shantou University (China).
