Tracey Wilson
Senior Lecturer in Accounting & Finance
Tracey joined Newcastle University Business School in August 2020 as a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance.
She is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser. Having qualified at Robson Laidler, Newcastle upon Tyne she joined BPP Professional Education in 2002 as a tax tutor in London. In 2004 she become Managing Director of BPP’s Newcastle campus where she was responsible for directing and managing resources to deliver high quality tuition, consistently high pass rates and excellent customer service to both clients and students for 10 years.
In 2014 Tracey moved from professional education into academia, teaching tax and financial reporting at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University until July 2020. She was a member of the leadership team for the department of Accounting and Financial Management and held the following positions in the department: Associate Head of Department; Director of Business and Engagement; and Director of Education and Employability.
Tracey specialises in tax and financial reporting, and has taught at all levels of ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and ICAS accounting qualifications, ATT and CTA tax qualifications and on undergraduate/post graduate programmes. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Tracey is currently working towards a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) on the effectiveness of corporate tax incentives for growth.
She was awarded a bursary from Chartered Accountants’ Livery Charity in support of this study.
Research interests: corporate tax reform; corporate tax incentives; high growth firms.
Tracey currently teaches on the following modules:

ACC3057: Financial Accounting and Reporting
ACC4052: Case Studies in Business, Accounting and Finance.
