Centres for Doctoral Training

Join one of our exciting Centres for Doctoral Training for an enhanced PhD experience.

About CDTs

Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) are an exciting opportunity for PhD students to join a hub of academics, researchers and other students all dedicated to high level research and study in a specialised area.

Members of our CDTs come together from a wide range of disciplines and specialisms to collaborate on ground-breaking research, meaning you can receive expert support and training across a number of subject areas.

Funding

If you are successful in applying to a CDT, you will receive full funding for your PhD, which will cover your course fees and also a regular payment towards your living expenses. In some cases you can also receive support for costs such as research materials and conference travel.

Engineering CDTs

As a university we run many Centres for Doctoral Training, and several of these are aligned closely with the School of Engineering:

These CDTs are funded by and run in collaboration with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
