In A Pinch: Newcastle University Fine Art students at the Late Shows
Published on: 13 May 2025
On Friday 16 May and Saturday 17 May, all first year Fine Art students at Newcastle University will be exhibiting as part of The Late Shows.
Collaboration
This major public exhibition is a regular annual collaboration with The NewBridge Project. But this year the exhibition In A Pinch sees the first years collaborating with artists from The Collective Studio at NewBridge. The Collective is a partnership between Newcastle University and The NewBridge Project, providing resources and professional development for recently graduated artists across all disciplines.
In A Pinch gives first year Fine Art students a great opportunity to work with established artists showing a range of 2D, 3D and audio/visual artworks in a collectively built installation. This support structure borrows ideas from NewBridge’s recent ‘Open’Open exhibition. The collaboration also makes a creative input to The Collective Studio’s artist development programme.
In A Pinch celebrates the students reaching the end of the first year of their degree giving visitors to the Late Shows the opportunity to see the range of work they have made this year – and to get a taste of their degree show in 2028.
‘In A Pinch’ is on show from 6.30pm -10.30pm on Friday 16 May and between 12noon and 5pm on Sat 17 May at The NewBridge Project, 4-8 Clarence Walk, Stoddart St, Newcastle NE2 1AL.
