Medical and Health at Newcastle University has been ranked in the top 85 in the world in a notable league table.

Breadth in excellence

The Times Higher World Subject Rankings put Newcastle at 83rd place for Medical and Health – which includes the subjects Medicine and Dentistry.  Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Life Sciences were ranked in the top 125, while Law maintained its place in the top 200.

Professor Chris Day, Vice-Chancellor and President of Newcastle University, said:  “We’re proud to be a University which offers a wide range of subjects to our students and this league table reflects the breadth in excellence of our disciplines. We are also pleased to see that while we have risen in the rankings for Medical and Health, we have maintained our position in other areas showing stability during what is an increasingly competitive landscape in Higher Education.”

The Times Higher World Subject rankings evaluate universities across 11 subject areas and use five key criteria to assess them. They are measured on teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
