Dr Laura Heels
SAgE Faculty Director of Culture and Inclusion
I am a lecturer in Computer Science. Focusing on investigations into inclusivity and bias in Computer Science Education which is coupled with work responsibilities on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). I am the current Director of Culture and Inclusion for the SAgE faculty.
I have taught across undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. I also have experience of designing and running sessions for postgraduate research students.
When teaching, I work closely with my students to ensure the teaching practices are as inclusive as possible.

My research interests are within Computing Education Practices, in particular developing inclusive practices for CS assessment and the CS culture. I am also interested in accessibility of tool design, AI technologies and whether this can impact a learner’s experience.
