Richard Crulley is the Head of Marketing and Communications for the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) at Newcastle University.
As a senior manager, he is a member of the Faculty Executive Board (FEB) and provides strategic direction to highlight our world-class academic experience, research excellence and business innovation.
Richard leads a department of over 20 professionals and oversees internal and external communications, marketing for student recruitment and brand reputation, alumni relations, events, global student recruitment, outreach and engagement.
Before working in the Faculty of SAgE, Richard was a manager in the University’s Central Marketing Directorate leading a team to deliver digital campaigns and website projects.
Prior to joining Newcastle University, Richard held senior positions within the education sector in a college group and an independent school. He has also worked at a creative agency with a large portfolio of international business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) clients.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys supporting organisations as a non-executive, advisor and mentor. He is currently a Governor at a primary school where he is Chair of the Finance and Staffing Committee, Chair of the Communications Committee and ensures GDPR compliance.
