Healthy Seas: Net Positive Workshop

Interactive event learning about the ghost fishing phenomenon, the ecosystem impacts and what Healthy Seas is doing to combat its impacts.

Taking place at our specialist beach-side laboratory in Cullercoats, join us for a day of interactive activities.

What can you get involved in?

We are excited to be working with the Healthy Seas Foundation to host an interactive event learning about the ghost fishing phenomenon, the ecosystem impacts and what Healthy Seas is doing to combat its impacts.

You will have the opportunity to work with an Animal Scientist specialising in aquaculture; taking part in hands-on activities, looking at human impact on marine ecosystems and also see our aquarium in action.

About Healthy Seas

Healthy Seas is a foundation based in the Netherlands whose mission is to remove marine litter from the seas, in particular fishing nets, for the purpose of creating healthier seas and recycling marine litter into textile products with the help of our partners.

Since 2013, Healthy Seas has collected over 1,220 tons of fishing nets and other marine litter with together with volunteer
divers and fishing communities all over the world.

Beyond clean ups, Healthy Seas work is focused on prevention and education.

Who should attend?

This is an event for Year 12 & 13 students. There will be a limit of 40 attendees
