Student societies

Student societies are a great opportunity to meet new people and get involved in different activities.

There are more than 150 societies at Newcastle University. Some that may be of interest to Modern Languages students are:

Student support services

Our School offers two types of support:

  • academic support - provided by Degree Programme Directors
  • pastoral support - provided by personal tutors

Degree Programme Directors provide academic advice about your programme. For example, they'll give advice about module choice or general academic queries.

Personal tutors are there to give you help and advice on your general and personal welfare.

We also have designated pastoral tutors who can offer help and advice on general welfare. This includes finance, accommodation and personal problems.

 will help you with general queries, such as:

  • term dates
  • extensions
  • year abroad issues
  • looking up your student records
  • changing your contact details
