Teacher Training session in London

Organized by the British Council Chinese Language Examinations Board and the British Chinese Language Teaching Association, a specialized training seminar for Chinese language teachers in the English language area took place from January 19 to 21 in London. The event, guided by the 'International Chinese Language Education Proficiency Standards,' offered academic exchange and practical guidance. Three teachers from the Confucius Institute at Newcastle University attended the training.

The first day at Birkbeck, University of London, featured experts from various institutions discussing the interpretation, application, and teaching resource development of the Proficiency Standards. The second day at SOAS University of London focused on the practical application of the Proficiency Standards in the European English language area.

On the final day, the teachers observed The Third Chinese Language Teaching Skills Contest London and Southern England Regional Competition. CI’s Chinese teacher Na Yao, as a representative of the award-winning teachers from the Central and Northern regions, delivered an opening speech before the competition, shared experiences and encouraged participants.

This seminar and the contest enriched Chinese language teachers' academic resources and practical experiences. Teachers expressed gratitude for the deepened understanding of new teaching concepts and the valuable insights gained through the contest.

The Confucius Institute at Newcastle University prioritizes teacher training, hosting regular seminars, inviting experts, and actively participating in relevant training. These efforts strengthen teachers' proficiency and contribute to the development of international Chinese education.
