Relationships of care and support beyond university spaces

I Lin Sin, SACS

Exploring postgraduate research students’ well-being and mental health in the recovery phase of the pandemic

This project will investigate the relatively overlooked but unique issues and challenges facing under-represented and disadvantaged Newcastle postgraduate research (PGR) students in receiving and giving mental well-being support in the recovery phase of the pandemic. It utilises an innovative equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) approach, combined with intersectionality to highlight how they navigate differential relationships of care and support beyond university and across local and transnational spaces.
The project will inform emerging research on the pandemic’s impact on the student experience as well as signpost ways forward for policy-practice and formal-informal linkages in meeting PGR well-being and mental health needs.
