Abstract submission is now open for the British Society of Gerontology Annual Conference 2024, which is to be held at Newcastle University from 3 – 5th July 2024.

The BSG Annual Conference attracts around 400 delegates from around the world, made up of academics and others interested in a wide range of issues related to ageing. Topics covered include health and ageing; social care; ageing in a global context; work and retirement; business, ageing and consumption; environments for ageing; social participation and ageing; technology and ageing; and arts, culture and ageing. It is being organised by the Centre for Ageing and Inequalities (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/ageing-inequalities/) and the theme this year will be New Directions in Ageing and the Life Course. We hope this will encourage us to collectively explore how the lives of older people, and research on ageing, are changing in the context of social, political, and economic transformations. To help us explore these issues, we are delighted to welcome three superb Keynote Speakers: Professor Phyllis Moen (https://cla.umn.edu/about/directory/profile/phylmoen) from the University of Minnesota; Professor Judith Phillips (https://www.stir.ac.uk/people/257386) from the University of Stirling; and Professor Cathrine Degnen (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/gps/staff/profile/cathrinedegnen.html) from Newcastle University. Expanding our geographical focus, we will also explore new directions through an exciting Flagship Symposium; this will bring together academics from countries entitled to development assistance to discuss the situation of older people in their respective countries.

In addition to the main conference, the Emerging Researchers in Ageing (ERA) pre-conference session will give early career researchers (ECRs) the opportunity to present their research, engage in workshops, and network with other ECRs.

Please see the conference website for more details. https://www.britishgerontology.org/events-and-courses/bsg-annual-conference

We hope to see you at the conference in July 2024!
