Newcastle University Business School has achieved an AA classification in the 2026 Green MBA Index, a new independent, evidence-based evaluation of MBA programmes launched by CEO Magazine to evaluate how effectively sustainability is integrated into MBA education. 

This classification places the Business School in the upper band of the Index, reflecting strong performance across the dimensions assessed.

It places the School among the leading programmes demonstrating a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to sustainability across teaching, research, governance and graduate outcomes.

Embedded sustainability

The Green MBA Index was developed to identify programmes where sustainability is embedded throughout the student experience, rather than treated as a standalone topic.

Unlike traditional rankings, the Index focuses on verifiable evidence and does not include reputational measures in its methodology.

Programmes were assessed across five key dimensions:

• Curriculum Integration
• Experiential Learning
• Research and Thought Leadership
• Institutional Environment
• Graduate Pathways 

All submissions were evaluated using structured institutional data and independently verified public evidence.
