We can help you solve your business challenges. Whether through student projects, partnerships, or expert consultancy, our Business Partnerships team will work with you to find the right solution.
Solve a Business Challenge
We work with local and global businesses, harnessing knowledge and insights to enable you to drive innovation and change throughout your business practices.
Our world is changing at an unprecedented rate. We can help you navigate the changing business landscape and inform your strategic decisions. We'll provide you with actionable insights and data. Utilise our research expertise and access the fresh perspectives of our talented students.
We will work with you to identify the optimal mechanism to solve your business challenge. We collaborate with you throughout to ensure a shared commitment to success, sustainability, and a positive impact from a local to global scale.
Student projects
Your business can benefit from our students' knowledge and skills. Gain a fresh perspective on a live business issue that you present to our students. They can undertake it as a business project as part of their programme.
Our students will conduct research and offer recommendations that address the brief you set. They'll be guided by our experienced academics throughout.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
KTPs aim to generate profit for your business, while presenting an academic challenge for our researchers. A graduate associate works full-time for you and is supervised by one of our academics for half a day a week.
Projects last between 12 and 36 months and are part-funded by UKRI through Innovate UK. They are open to UK organisations only.
Arrow
Arrow is a programme built to help local businesses overcome hurdles to innovation. We connect you with the right expertise and facilities across four leading North East universities. Our researchers have collaborated with many regional businesses through Arrow, helping them thrive.
There's no cost to your business for eligible projects. Arrow is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
MBA Shadow Trustee Scheme
MBA students can use their professional experience to support charity boards across the North East. They offer strategic insight, fresh perspectives, and specialist knowledge — all while developing their own leadership and governance skills.
Through the MBA Shadow Trustee Scheme, charities can host MBA students on their board for 12 months. Shadow Trustees attend board meetings, contribute to discussions, and share business expertise — without taking on legal responsibilities or voting rights.
The result is a stronger, more diverse board and a powerful learning experience for the student.
Academic consultancy
Research typically focuses on creating new knowledge. However, academic consultancy offers a quicker, more focused solution.
Our academic colleagues bring a wealth of expertise across diverse disciplines. They combine years of research experience with real-world understanding.
Whether you need specialised insights or fresh perspectives, we can help address your unique business challenges by drawing on our broad knowledge base.
