Brief Outline of Research Project:

This archives-based project has a dual focus – locating archival sites relevant to documenting LGBTQIA+ culture and history from the North East, and facilitating community access and engagement to that material, empowering marginalised communities to access material relevant to their heritage within archival collections.  This facilitation aims to encompass creating a research guide for relevant material held at Tyne & Wear Regional Archive, and community co-curated public engagement programming in partnership with community stakeholders.  The current main strands of archival collections Jaime is exploring include HIV histories, trans and gender expansive individuals identifiable in the long 19th century, and ephemeral collections which can facilitate mapping sites connected to the urban queer environment across the 20th century.
