Geoff has more than 40 years engineering experience in Programme/Project Management, Process improvement and Electronic Design roles gained predominantly in the automotive, telecommunications and gaming industries.
He has managed projects from concept through to completion with numerous companies in both Europe and the USA.

Relevant experience:
Geoff commenced his career in the Automotive sector as a Project Manager with Nissan’s Technical Design Centre for 14 years, followed by Engineering Manager and Project Manager positions in a number of engineering organisations.
During that time, Geoff worked in electrical design, managing, developing and testing components and systems including supplier liaison. This technical expertise was complemented by responsibility for resource management, budget control and project planning.
Geoff has extensive experience in data analysis and interpretation, and has analyzed many EV charging datasets identifying charging patterns at home, in public places and in workplaces by using SQL and other software tools.
Geoff’s interests lie in Innovation and the development of new technologies, and he therefore takes an active role in future technology scanning.
Key Project Experience:
ELSA Battery Storage System:
As part of the Energy Local Storage Advanced system (ELSA) European consortium of European partners, Geoff was responsible for the project management of the installation and operation of the battery storage system at the UK’s demonstrator site (1 of 6 across Europe). ELSA addresses existing development needs by combining 2nd life batteries with an innovative local ICT-based Energy Management System in order to develop a low-cost, scalable and easy-to-deploy battery energy storage system. Demonstrator sites cover all relevant applications for distributed storage including an office building, a university R&D centre, an industrial site and a local grid with solar energy generation.
Plugged in Places (NEPIP) project: Long term analysis of charging data from homes, workplaces and public charging locations. Development of an Energy storage simulator to demonstrate bi-directional power transfer, storage and use covering renewable energy generation through to charge point operation.
EV Demand study: Analysing major UK Cities EV charging data, network composition and EV sales data in order to report on demand for public EV charging. Included assessing EV charging behaviour to inform strategy and policy for further charging infrastructure roll-out.
