Working With Us

Our engineering research has been instrumental in informing policies and regulations in government.

We have a great track record of innovating, researching, and teaching alongside industrial partners.

Some of the biggest names from industry are among our many partners. Since 2015, Newcastle has been one of Siemens’ strategic Principal Partner Universities, who are part of Siemens’ co-ordinated programme of academic engagement. Other partners include technology innovator Dyson, international engineering consultancy Arup, and an award-winning relationship with utilities giant Northumbrian Water Group.

Alongside commercial partners, our expertise and engineering research informs policy and regulation in government. We're very proud that Professor Phil Blythe is the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department for Transport. Flooding, mitigating climate change impacts, expert witness, and providing public enquiry evidence are some of the other activities we undertake.

Our industry collaborations include the provision of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), collaborative projects, shared facilities, student placements, and a range of analytical and technical services.
