Athena Swan

We aim to provide a fair and supportive working environment for all staff and students. We are committed to the guidelines set out in the Athena Swan Charter.

Bronze Award

Newcastle University supports the Athena Swan Charter. The School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics (SELLL) holds a Bronze Award.

In September 2022 the School successfully renewed its Athena Swan Bronze Award. Co-chairs Ruth Connolly and Kimberly O’Brien worked with a Self-Assessment Team (SAT) represented by colleagues and students from across the School to create a 5 year action plan. Our agreed actions will help us develop our gender equality work in ways that align with and support our wider intersectional understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in SELLL.
