Staff Profile
Dr Sarah Kendrick is a writer of women's short and long-form fiction. Her forthcoming novels, Middle Rage and The Trouble With Connie and Jenn, will be published by HQ Stories, an imprint of HarperCollins, in February 2026 and February 2027 respectively. She is currently working on a novel set in the world of 1950s repertory theatre.
Sarah Kendrick's novels are marketed as Book Club Fiction and fall into the category where literary and commercial fiction meet. She is interested in challenging crude divisions of literary and commercial fiction and exploring the world where accessibility and complexity meet, and in the possibilities of popular fiction to interrogate cultural narratives.
Sarah is particularly keen to address the under-representation of older women in contemporary fiction. Her work examines ageism, gendered invisibility and the social marginalisation of older women.
Sarah teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate modules on writing fiction, with particular emphasis on novel-writing.
