Heritage of Hope Truth-Telling, Building and Anti-Oppression

An in-person workshop led by Braden Paynter, Director of Methodology and Practice, International Coalition of Sites of Conscience. We welcomed Braden Paynter from the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience to campus. He works for an organisation that has 350 members around the world, including museums, historic sites and memorials. It was an invaluable opportunity to meet someone with a global network of contacts who cares passionately about memory and social justice.

Participant' first-hand experience

Minki Sung (PGR, School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape)

The Coalition of Sites of Conscience (ICSC) workshop delved into Forensic, Social, Personal, and Reconciliation truths, fostering engaging and thought-provoking discussions. The session explored diverse issues from multiple perspectives, drawing on relatable examples like the shared experience of COVID-19. Additionally, Braden shared insightful examples of previous ICSC projects. A resonating takeaway from the workshop was the realisation that "We are defined by what we build."
