Radiochemistry

The cyclotron (ABT Molecular Imaging Biomarker Generator) at Newcastle University is partially funded from a £625,000 contribution from the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

This equipment is installed in the Bedson Building, within the School of Chemistry:
  • very flexible radiosynthetic & analytical facility
  • batch and microfluidic production
  • range of [18F] fluoride chemistries possible
  • small molecule and biomacromolecule targets
The facility includes multi-step systems for PET tracer production:
  • gravatom hot cells
  • batch production using Eckert and Ziegler Modular Lab
  • microfluidic production using Advion NanoTek LF
